Wednesday, 20th

Breathing Autumn following a double booking at the venue have shifted the launch of their EP Without Latitude to Friday November 29 @ The Healer in Fortitude Valley. Special guests on the night will be Bloon and Caleb James & Friends.

Gersey are currently on the road in support of their second album Storms Dressed As Stars, out now on Trifekta Records. They play two nights in Sydney at the Hopetoun on Friday Nov 22 w/ Youth Group and People Of Alaska and Saturday Nov 23 w/ The Devoted Few and Starboard. Then Melbourne on Friday Nov 29 @ Corner Hotel w/ Even (acoustic), Architecture In Helsinki and DJ Karen Leng.

Silent*Corporation is the new name for the Sydney band previously known as Secondbest. The name change was prompted by the discovery of a band with a similar name based in America, which would have presented legal problems with negotiations to release their EP 'Don't Look Back' in the US. The band will continue to use their former moniker of Secondbest up until the New Year when the band will start recording their debut album. Further details »

Sneeze, before concentrating on their next album, will play their last shows until March 2003 this week. They play Thursday Nov 21 @ The Annandale Hotel w/ Magic Lunchbox and Atticus; Friday Nov 22 @ The Empress, North Fitzroy w/ Cassette, Genshen; Saturday Nov 23 @ Revolver Upstairs, Prahran w/ Mid State Orange, Mrs Pinkwhistle + DJ Amber Tripp. The band recently returned from a tour of Europe and the UK where they played twenty-one shows in 30 days.

The Stalkers and Mach Pelican both with new releases in tow will hit the road in November / December for an East Coast tour entitled 'Destroy All... Funsters!!!'. george embark on their first dates overseas with the band set to play UK and Japan in late November / early December. After which the band will return to play several dates on home soil including Homebake. Then on January 23 and 25 the band will perform live with the full Sydney Symphony in a program of works culminating in their landmark rendition of Jon Lord's immortal Concerto for Group and Orchestra. Cog have announced run of ACT, NSW, QLD, VIC and SA tour dates during the months of November and December. This follows the announcement of their addition to the national Big Day Out 2003 line-up. Area 7 after taking a break will play their first headline club shows in 6 months on Saturday November 30 @ Tote, Melbourne with an under-18 show during the day and over-18 by night. These shows will not only showcase a handful of new songs but a new line-up with Paul West the new trombone player following Alistair's departure, and also Grant from Bodyjar filling in on bass with the departure of the bass player. Small World Experience after a six year hiatus will return for some rare live shows in Melbourne during November / December. Aside from the concept album Side Projects, released on vinyl by Chapter Music late last century, the Brisbane three piece has been on hold until now with members busy in various groups such as Minimum Chips, Golden Lifestyle Band, Tendrils and Letraset. The Vines, who are currently undertaking a tour of the US, will return to local shores in January with a series of three East Coast performances in and around their debut appearance at the Big Day Out festival this summer. The Twelve Bands Of Christmas is a daylong event happening on Sunday December 15 @ The Annandale, Sydney. The twelve bands performing on the day will be Fragile (feat Simon Holmes ex-Hummingbirds with their first gig back in a long time), Ides Of Space, El Mopa, Sounds Like Sunset, People Of Alaska, Spod, Castings, The Fangs, Half Miler, Laissez Faire, Audiophile and Squipplepippy. The event will also feature the disc spinning talents of DJs Cibot (Further/The Government), Esus (ESN/ Comrade Records), Redfive (Spod/Stardestroyer Recordings) & Vader (Further) plus a mini-zine will be available on the day with stories on each of the bands performing. Doors open 12pm and tickets are available at the door.

Fallopion Tube will be releasing their second EP The Anti-Art Regime at the beginning of December on the Beanz Baxter Music label. The band will launch the EP in Melbourne on Friday December 13 @ The Arthouse with special guests No Grace, One Last Excuse and Terror Firma. January 2003 will then see the band hit the road with a tour of NSW, QLD and SA.

Tuesday, 19th

Smudge after a three hiatus will return to the live arena on Friday December 6 @ The Annandale. Special guests will be 78 Saab and Silo.

Seraphs Coal after six years, two EPs, an album and countless compilation appearances have decided it's time to call it a day. As part of their farewell tour the band will be playing dates during November / December in their hometown of Adelaide, Melbourne, Gosford and Sydney including a spot on the Homebake festival. Thursday, 7th

Indent, the NSW government's youth entertainment initiative, is holding the 2002 Indent Forum and Awards @ The Studio in the Sydney Opera House on Sunday November 10. This day long event is open to anyone interested in all ages entertainment in NSW and will bring together Indent members and others from around NSW to discuss the issues, share their experiences, network and be entertained by emerging NSW artists throughout the day including Darren Hanlon, Muzzy Pep, Morgana and The Monstars, DJ Josie and Tracy Redhead. The Tenants hit the road this month for an east tour in support of their new single Get Started. Joining them on what has been dubbed the the Northern Uproar tour will be The Daisy Cutters. Jamie Hutchings of Bluebottle Kiss fame is heading out on the road in support of his solo album The Golden Couch which is in stores now out on Nonzero Records. Spanning mid to late November the tour sees shows in Brisbane, Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney. The 8 song album for the most part was recorded and mixed by Tony Dupe between 1999 - 2002 on 8 track in Geroa, NSW. Further details »

Shutterspeed release their new single Come Out Swingin on November 18. The single is the first to be taken from their forthcoming album Custom Made Hit Parade and also the opening track for the new record. The band will be making a quick trip to Sydney this November to launch the single. Early December will see the band return to Byron Bay to finish some more songs, with the hope that the record will be complete by Christmas, putting it on track for a March release. Homebake organisers have announced the final line-up for this year’s festival with the addition of The Wilcannia Mob, Tim Rogers, Gelbison, Speedstar, Gersey, Rhubarb, Shane Nicholson, Crank, Sneaky Sound System and DJs Pash, Mark Dynamix and Abel El Toro, bringing the number of acts to 55 in total. Adam Said Galore release their new album Of Lost Roads in stores on November 11 out through Redline Records. The album was recorded and produced by the band in their own recording studio throughout 2002.

Waikiki embark on east coast tour during the months of November and early December to support Augie March. In other news Lucky, the third single to be lifted from their debut album 'I'm Already Home', is due for release November 25. The track is one of two on the album that sees guitarist Joel Stein take centre spotlight as he gets behind the microphone. Accompanying the single will be 2 non-album tracks, and an exclusive "on-the-road" video of 'Lucky' comprised of footage compiled during the making of the clip. Further details »

STR launch their new single How To Live Today this week on new Brisbane label Vertical Records. The single is the lead up to the band's debut LP due out early next year, and also marks the new label's first ever release. The band launch the record in Melbourne on Thursday November 7 @ Goo w/ Bullet the Blue Sky, The Critics and in their hometown of Adelaide with an all ages show on Saturday November 9 @ Music House w/ Seraphs Coal, Day of Contempt, 7/10 Split and I Killed The Prom Queen.

Monday, 4th

Comrade Records following the success of the their first Get Up & Die Properly night are now putting on a second one on Saturday November 16 @ Excelsior, Surrey Hills. Performing on the night will be Tooth, Spod, Oneironaut (Melbourne), DJ Mikey and Audiophile (Newcastle).

Fibrotown launch their self-titled CD on Sunday November 10 @ The Rob Roy Hotel, Fitzroy. Supports will be The Chris Chapple Ensemble and Mia Schoen. This, their first major release, is out on The Lost and Lonesome label and is available in shops through MGM distribution.
