Rhibosome have pulled out of all forthcoming shows, and will not be playing live again until member Dave fully recovers from the glandular fever that forced them to cancel their Livid shows last year. In the meantime the group are using the time to finish writing and recording new material.

Care Factor Records launch the third Punk'O'clock compilation with two shows in mid-February. There is an over-18 launch on Friday February 14 @ Prince Of Wales Hotel with Area 7, Fez Perez, Identitytheft, Sforzando, The Critics and The Twits. Then an under-18 launch happening Saturday February 15 @ Arthouse Hotel from midday onwards featuring Commissioner Gordon, No Idea, Addiction 64, Bullet The Blue Sky, No Grace, Yidcore, Idiotcheck, Fallopian Tube, Bordello and Eulogy. Punk'O'clock III is a double CD compilation, featuring 50 tracks and is instores now out through Care Factor with MGM Distribution.

International Karate release their debut album Weapons Of Mass Protection on February 2 on Sensory Projects distributed by Inertia. The Melbourne four piece launch the album on Friday February 28 @ Empress of India Hotel, Nth Fitzroy with special guests Qua and 24K.

Silent Corporation, previously known as Secondbest, head out on the road in February for a tour of Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Western Australia to spread word of their new name. After the tour the band will bunker down in the studio to record their debut album, due for release later this year. Further details »

The Annual East Coast International Blues & Roots Music Festival has announced the third round of artists. They are locals Yothu Yindi, Diesel, The Backsliders plus internationals Michael Franti & Spearhead, Ozomatli, Violent Femmes, Arthur Lee & Love, Robert Randolph & The Family Band and Johnnie Johnson. Dappled Cities Fly head down to Melbourne in early February for a handful of shows. Amongst the run of dates is a 45 minute live set on PBS FM and a showcase performance as part of the Australian Music Week. Blueline Medic release their new single Sleepyhead instore February 24 through Redline Records. The single is the first taken from their forthcoming album Text Bomb, recorded in Adelaide in December of 2002 with producer Darren Thompson (Thinktank) and currently scheduled for release in mid-April. The single is accompanied by two previously unavailable tracks that will not appear on the new album: the acoustic tune Ceramic and a live Triple J version of Shuffle And Scrape. The band will be undertaking a brief tour in March prior to more extensive travelling after the release of their new album. Further details »

Powderfinger are currently in a Sydney studio recording their new album, the follow up to 2000's Odyssey Number Five. Joining the band once again is American producer Nick Didia, who engineered, produced and mixed the band's previous two albums. No release date has been announced at this stage but the band is hoping to have the album released mid year around May or June

Rob Clarkson releases his double retrospective CD Shirts & Skins in stores on March 3 on Candle Records. The first CD features 19 studio tracks, compiling the solo releases 'Hellbent In Hobart', 'Beautiful Girls & Beautiful Boys', 'Off Your Faith' and ‘The Gag Reflex'. The second CD contains 9 live tracks recorded at his farewell show at The Punters Club, November 30th, 1996.

Blood Duster play three shows in support of their recently released single Drink, Fight, Fuck. They play Friday Jan 24 @ The Tote, Collingwood; Saturday Jan 25 @ Enigma Bar, Adelaide (licensed all ages) and Saturday Feb 1 @ Manning Bar, Sydney Uni. The single features guest vocals by Jay from 28 Days. The band will be touring nationally with The Haunted in March.

The Beautiful Few release the album Metal for Melbourne and Other Stories early February out thru Big Rig Records. The album was recorded and produced by Augie March guitarist Adam Donnovan, and features Augie March bass player Edmond Ammendola picking up bass duties as well as appearences by Dan Luscombe (Blackeyed Susans) on guitar and keyboard and Glen Richards pitching in with some backing vocals. The band launch the album over two nights at The Empress in Melbourne on Friday 21 and Saturday 22 of February with supports from Rob Snarski and Dan Luscombe and Loudhailer.

Thinktank guitartist has Shane Shepherd parted ways with the band and loud music in general after developing a bad case of tinitus. He hasn't abandoned music all together and is now working hard on writing songs for a new acoustic-based project. In the meantime the band have a temporary replacement, that of Kevin Walker from Hummel.

Sandro play their farewell show on Saturday February 15 @ The Rob Roy Hotel, Brunswick St, Melbourne. Supports will be Maersk (feat ex-members of Little General) and Ollie (Art Of Fighting). Copies of the last three releases will be available for $5 each at the door.

The Rebel Astronauts, following the departure of guitarist Tom Roberts, will play their first shows as a three-piece in Melbourne next week. They play Friday January 31 @ The Rob Roy w/ Season, International Karate and Squipplepippy, plus Saturday February 1 @ The Pony w/ Solaris, Season and Squipplepippy.

Gerling embark on a run of east coast dates during late February in support of Japan's Cornelius, who incidentally contributed a remix for the single release of 'Hot Computer'. In other news the band has been working on their new album, with a taster expected around April in the form of an EP. Further details »

Ukiyo-e present their final release Experience Makes You Dumb on January 27 out through Trifekta Records. The album contains seven tracks, spanning just under an hour, featuring remixes and reworkings of their material by Chicago's Casey Rice, Sun's Oren Ambarchi, Sydney laptop electronic artist Pimmon, sample / guitar / dub three piece Tooth, Melbourne noise experimentalist Chris Smith and various members of Ukiyo-e themselves under different guises. Ukiyo-e disbanded in late 2003 and now the members are involved in various projects.

Something For Kate head into the studio on the Central Coast of NSW at the end of February to start recording their fourth album. US producer Trina Shoemaker, who worked on Echolalia, will once again make the trip out to Australia to co-produce the new record. Once they finish recording the new album the band is planning to return to the USA for more touring this year, to support the American release of Echolalia by New York based label Red Ink, as well as perform shows in the UK.

Peabody hit the road in late February and till mid March for an east coast tour in support of the radio single Rockwell. The single is taken from their debut album Professional Againster out now on Non Zero records. Further details »

The Accidents launch their new single Hero For A Day on Saturday February 8 @ Vic On The Park, Enmore. Special guests will be Women Of Troy and My Pocket Radio, with doors open 8pm and entry $7.
